I was a budget Bride. Which meant Calligraphy was not high on the list of things I needed, but I came across one calligrapher who was able to work with my tiny budget and I dont regret spending the money @ all! Kari Jo of City Writes is just wonderful to work with, and I just love the whimsy to her writing =) She also creates personalized stationary as well has hand written invitations...

Here is what I used her for, our escort cards! This lil project ended up being super cheap too, I am going to post about our super fun buttons (which had the table # listed) soon!!!!

*Our lil cards were .75 cents each (we did per couple too)

For me I loved having all the baby pics of my hubby shown @ our wedding

and this was the song we used for his pics!

Its kind of hard to find a non-cheesy one for the gents!

Oh and FYI this was the only Youtube for this song, and I really didnt want to use the one from the OC =) lol.

Its always a funny situation with who pays for the flower girl outfits...I ended up really lucking out and my fabulous SIL's paid for our girls tutus and pink converse!

But while pursuing one of my fav. sites (Jcrew) I always have to rummage through the CREWCUTS area =)

I recently stumbled upon the work of Roger & Lyndzee Ellsworth of EP Love Photography ! And I am in love =) their work just blows my mind! And this one session they did had me squealing with bridal joy! Really most brides dont take advantage of "Day After" shoots, and feel like its sooo limited to having the same bridal attire, etc... but not anymore! Its a completely different feel than your wedding day, you are calm and relaxed =) & can truly make it sooo creative and unique!

This one is amazing =) and they had to post the awesomeness is parts! These are my favorites from Part 1! Check out Part 1 & Part 2 on their bloggity blog!
I really think their style just screams character, and I love that!!!!!

I haven't wanted a chandelier for god knows how long, but again I really don't like the look of the super upper class type chandeliers, something a bit more mellow please =)

Well PERCH has just the thing! You can make a super simple urban type of chandelier for your happy home ;) And would be a fantastic wedding gift if you ask me!!!!

Super cute just the simplicity of your new last name light hanging over your kitchen table!

While these lil guys aren't exactly cheap, if you have a short last name
then its doable... just a bit pricey...

One of my favorite things finds during my Wedding Planning was Lauren Alane =)

She just creates the cutest toppers for your wedding cake, fresh and modern and sooo charming!
We actually were the 2nd Cake Topper she ever made!
She started out with just making birds & then owls and then poof onto Wedding cake topper =)

We had a lil (i dont want to call it a theme)Love Bird motif for our wedding,
and Lauren was able to make them perfect and just the touch of whimsy we were looking for!

I highly suggest using her, she was a dream to work with, and I love our lil keepsake from our wedding day =)

I truly think if you packaged some hot cocoa powder and heart marshmellows up

as Wedding Favors it would be delightful!

Really its all about packaging.
Packaging can make or break an idea :) I am a firm believer in that!

I would just fill up the bag with powder

(hello jumbo tub o cocoa -from costco)

and then toss in the marshmellows!

Labor intensive -Yes. Worth it- Hell YES!

It also makes such a sweet gifty in the jar!

Orla Keily's collection for Target Housewares is hitting stores Feburary 15th!
There was a falsa alarm that some stores were getting the stuff this weekend,

but sadly its just not true (there are a couple pieces in some stores though!!!)

Lately I have been on this balloon kick (maybe because of her).
So this lil posty is getting lumped in with my coulda, woulda, shoulda’s!
I really think that all these ideas can be incorporated into any event really,
except if you are striving for uber manly… umm ya prolly not.
But really I love how chic balloons have become, its all about presentation!
It can really make or break the look you are going for!
Again presentation is key ; )

While scrolling through my google reader, I came across this lil gem Via SF Girl by the Bay!

Now Apartment Therapy is dedicated to home décor,
yet I feel like this idea works with all facets of Art & Life.
It’s really hard these days to be original, and this really resonates with me.

Apparently Gray is the HOT new color in the poster world :)

My childhood friend Kayli is getting married this Spring –Woo Hoo!

She is the friend I have know F.O.R.E.V.E.R ;) and I couldn’t be happier for her.

So with the wedding comes all the showers & the super fun dance party bachelorette palooza (Sorry but you have to dance for your bachelorette, you just HAVE to!)

Lately I have been brainstorming some fun ideas for a couple different shin digs

we will be having in her honor and without giving away too many surprises for the bride to be

I can only share bits and pieces of what we are thinking of doing…

1st up food, well desserts…

Some of these would be feasible for a wedding, probably an intimate affair,

but TOTALLY do able for a shower!

I read this post on apartment therapy this week & it was such a great post for the New Year!
The hubs and I are completely guilty of these bad habits in the bedroom…

but now I am striving to correct that.
I believe that your bedroom really does affect your mood
And there are so many easy ways to instantly make your space stress free!
The big ones I am guilty of….
Clutter, Not planning for enough storage, Unflattering lighting,

& Not shutting the door against the world.
I am especially guilty of not shutting the door against the world,

their advice
“Even if your bedroom doesn't have a door, consider shutting it figuratively

against the intrusions of the day.
The bedroom's best left for romance and rest.
Try keeping work, and the television, out and let your bedroom be a retreat from the day's cares.”
So now I am on a mission to piece together our dream bedroom

I pretty much want to piece together different rooms to create our look!

I just found out (via Decor 8) that my all time favorite store
is going to offer crafting classes!!!!!
Yippee!
I just love everything about Anthropologie;
the smell, the trickets, and of course the set styling!
I knew they were starting to offer wardrobe styling classes for customers but this is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G!
I am off to call the local stores and see when I can sign up :) Im sure this would be great eye candy and inspiration for Brides out there!

Lately my Google Reader has been filled to the brim with
yummy decor ideas for homes,and I finally gave in.
I added a "Humble Abode" label in the blog, I must share some of these goodies!
We are trying to buy our 1st home this year so in turn I am nesting :)
I first spotted this lovely company via Desire to Inspire
(blog just pouring with home goodness) and fell in love!

Castle is made by designer Rachel Castle,
all of their bed linens are hand printed and made out of Australia.

How adorable is this pillow!!!!
Castle also creates hand stitched artwork embroidered on vintage French linens (*swoon*)

I just love the sweet nothings embroidered on the artwork! So romantic :)

While these beauties are nothing new to brides
I can’t help but swoon over them!
I actually used a fresh flower in my hair for our wedding (a Peony), but now I wish I would have snatched up one of these pieces!
Again probably something I will get for our 1 year anniversary shoot!
Myra of Twigs and Honey is nothing short of fantastic,
I have been lusting over this necklace since I first saw it in
her Etsy Shop & now it will be mine! Woot!
Well not this exact one, we are changing some things but I am soooo excited to get it.
(probably not till the new year though-she books up fast ladies!)

So I don't know who has been watching the show BLUSH on lifetime,

its a reality contest for the next Great Makeup Artist,

but MY wedding makeup artist won!!!

Nolan (Roberts) Makaawaawa WON :)

I seriously couldn't be happier for him, he truly is such a sweetheart!

I cant even believe that I snatched him up for my wedding last year-craziness!

Well I wanted to brag about his goodness since this is such a huge accomplishment for him.

(and an excuse to show some more wedding pics lol)

Paper Dolls

When I was in 2nd grade I had this ridiculous obsession with paper dolls,
I remember it got so bad that we (me and 4 other lil galleons)
actually made a whole wedding out of paper dolls. I remember making the wedding cake-lol! I don’t know if you’ve heard of Polyvore, but it’s kind of a big deal. I had seen it on a TON of blogs post about it for about the past 6 months
and just put it on the back burner. The idea seemed cool, but I just didn’t give it much thought… until last week. It’s literally like Paper Dolls for the digital age! (sans the doll-use your imagination folks) And I am back to my obsession; this time around I don’t have to suffer the paper cuts. Pretty much you are able to create inspiration boards/outfits from an array of images/clothes. I am going to do a lil mini e-session this weekend and play off the gloomy rainy weather we have been having here in sunny socal, and decided to build a fun inspiration outfit for my bride!
I like adding some sunshine in the outfit to counter act the gloomyness :)

How rad are these Christmas light icicles!
While sorting through my old Martha Mags I came across this lil gem (circa 2007).
If we were able to decorate outside our humble abode
(known as a condo) then I would be all over this project!
I think this spin on Holiday lights is just too cute for words.
Also I thought this would be a beautiful way to decorate a reception under the stars
or perhaps a late night ceremony under an oak tree
(cant you just see the tree filled with these hanging lovelies)
Of course it completely depends on the venue but I think these would be gorgeous.
For me its completely reminiscent of the Great Gatsby,
I just think of a beautiful party in a gorgeous backyard and its just oh so charming!

Looking for the writing on the.....Stairs

Maybe it’s because I grew up in a one story house, or maybe because I just feel better after I climb the dreaded moving stairs at the gym, but I just love STAIRS.

Even though we don’t have home (yet) I really really would love to get a home with stairs.
While pursuing some beautiful images of… well… stairs,

I became inspired with the possibility to incorporate stairs into some photo shoots.

But not just regular old plain stairs. Nope were talking about some bedazzled Stairs!!!
Okay not really bedazzled (I just wanted to use the word), more like infusing some personality into the stairs via wordage.
A fun location with rad environment friendly flight of steps is an indie shopping area

in Costa Mesa called THE CAMP.

They have awesome little messages in the parking spaces as well.

I hope that I can shoot just the right couple there soon!

I was thinking of taking the wordage a step further with a couple,

just add some awesome stairs + old love letters/emails/texts (well you get it) + sidewalk chalk and just write out their personal messages on the stairs!

I think that adding that romantic flair into your photos would be absolutely beautiful!!!!

And then of course one step further...

Once the wedding is over and you start to set up shop in your new home;

why not personalize your stairs with your wedding vows

or perhaps the card you wrote to each other on your wedding day?!!?

Bits of the groom’s words & bits from the bride’s words alternating with each stair!

You could either paint em, or do what this couple did and use a sharpie.

This amazing husband and wife (also amazing architects) built their dream home
and on their temporary stair treads the couple inscribed lines from a valentine’s letter that Cummins’s grandfather penned to her grandmother during the World War II era.
Umm Wow!
Once the house was almost complete they couldnt replace the stairs, coincedience... I think not!
For me and my hubs I think I would dig through our memory boxes (yup he saved one too!) of when we 1st started dating and find cute lil notes we wrote each other!
It would be such a lovely reminder in a home for sure.
